Also, many women use oral contraception pills containing progestin and estrogen. These pills will prevent ovulation. There are small pills that need to be taken daily. The pills will thicken the cervical mucus and prevent the egg from getting reached by the sperm. There are also some birth control injections but women should not take them for more than 2 years because they can affect the bone density. The hormonal birth control patch gets applied on the abdomen, the upper torso or on the outer arm. It is a good way of birth control and it released the hormones into the blood.

Women also like to use IUDs or the intra uterine devices. They must be inserted by specialized doctors into the uterus. Many doctors prefer this method for women that have already had a baby.

A permanent method of birth control is sterilization. The doctor will tie the fallopian tubes so that eggs could not travel and reach the uterus.
